
Francis (Frank) Gerard Crosby of Dorchester, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Francis was affectionately known to all his family and close friends as “Chipper’ as he was a “chip off the old block.”
Frank was born in Dorchester and was one of three children to the late Anna M. Crosby and Francis G. Crosby. Most of his childhood he lived in the Ashmont neighborhood and went to Saint Brendan’s Elementary School where he made some of his lifelong friends, which eventually led to meeting the love of his life, his wife, Jean to whom he was happily married to for 57 years.
Frank and Jean decided to raise their three daughters in Saint Brendan’s Parish where Frank devoted time as an usher at the church and managed the weekly Saturday Night Bingos that helped raise money for the school and church. He also was responsible for handling all the collections after all the Sunday Masses. He was a man of deep faith and always felt the need to give back.
Frank was a 1971 graduate of Boston College where he obtained his degree in Marketing and eventually went on to obtain a Graduate Degree in Retail Bank Management from the University of Virginia in 1985. Frank excelled in the banking industry and worked for Bank of Boston for over 30 years and for Boston Private Bank for over 26 years where he eventually retired in 2022 as Senior Vice President. During his career he volunteered for several organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for Marion Manor and he also served as the Treasurer for the Friends of Copley Square.
Frank’s pride and joy was his family. He attended countless dance recitals, soccer and softball games for his three girls. He became the proud grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren to whom he doted on. Anyone who met Frank would hear what each one of his grandkids were doing and all their accomplishment as he beamed with pride.
Frank is survived by his wife, Jean of Dorchester, MA his daughter Deborah Giampapa of Norwood, MA his daughter Patricia Lopes of Abington, MA and his daughter Jacqueline Tyman and his son-in-law Steven Tyman of Burlington, MA, brother to Michele Moran and her husband Terrance Moran of Holden, MA and the late Andrea Crosby, his grandchildren, Lauren and Amanda Lopes, Matthew and Madison Tyman and Jason Giampapa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Brendan’s Church, Dorchester, MA on Monday December 15, 2025, at 11:00 o’clock am.
