Phyllis G. (Grime) Huckabee, 84, of New Bedford died Sunday September 3, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Robert W. Huckabee; they had been married for 49 years.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah (Clegg) Grime, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
A graduate of New Bedford High School and Kinyon School of Business, she served eight years as an Executive Secretary at the Case Insurance Agency prior to becoming a homemaker.
She enjoyed working with arts and crafts including drawing with pen and ink.
Survivors include three sons, Robert W. Huckabee Jr. and his wife Deborah of Acushnet, Philip C. Huckabee of Fairhaven, and Peter D. Huckabee and his wife Brenda of Marlborough, Connecticut. She especially loved her six grandchildren, Scott R. Huckabee and Matthew S. Huckabee, both of New Bedford, Jessica L. Huckabee of Acushnet, Sarah D. Huckabee and her husband Diego Gleyzer of South Windham, Connecticut, and Allison M. Huckabee and Erin N. Huckabee, both of Marlborough, Connecticut.
She was also the sister of the late Frank Grime Jr. of Edmonds, Washington.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10 AM in the Chapel of Grace Episcopal Church, 422 County St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 6-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
