
Mae Louise (Perry) Doherty, of Sandwich, MA, and formerly of Natick, Franklin, MA, and Hudson, FL, passed away on November 24, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Manchester, NH.
She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Taylor) Perry and John Perry of Lynn, MA. She was the former wife of the late Robert E. Doherty with whom she shared 6 children. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Colleen Gallagher, Kerry Humphrey, and Erin Brooks (Michael), and by her son, John Doherty (Sheila), as well as her 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her sister Nancy Mcgaughey. She was predeceased by her cherished sons, Robert A. Doherty and Thomas E. Doherty (Ruth), as well as her son-in-law, Robert S. Gallagher, and her sister, Joanne Tuner.
Mae began her career as a flight attendant for American Airlines in the 1950s, and later rekindled her love of travel as a travel consultant for 20 years before retiring to Florida. She explored the world and delighted in sharing stories from her many adventures. Mae also worked at Wellesley College and the Wellesley College Club, where she became well-known for welcoming visiting professors and foreign exchange students into her home, especially during the holidays.
Along with raising her children, she devoted herself to her community in countless meaningful ways. She was a member of the Kiwi club of Boston for former AA flight attendants, the Red Hat Society, and the Natick Women's Club. She had a lifelong passion for dance and was involved in numerous dance and tap productions over the years.
A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St, (Rt.16) Wellesley on Friday, Dec. 5 from 9-10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Natick at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick.
