Obituary

PARSONSFIELD- John David Morrill, “JD” or “David”, passed away from complications of Powassan Virus on Saturday November 22nd, 2025, after fighting many courageous battles with kidney and heart issues.

He was born on New Year’s Day, 1949 in Parsonsfield, Maine, the youngest son of the late Clarence and Dorothy (Caldwell) Morrill.

He graduated from Sanford High School and after serving in the U.S. Navy, worked mostly logging or operating the family sawmill along with his brother Joe and father Clarence.

He was a member of the Drummond Masonic Lodge and enjoyed fishing, making maple syrup and spending time with friends and family. David was definitely one of a kind. His bright blue eyes and sense of humor will definitely be missed by anyone who had been lucky enough to meet him.

He is predeceased by a sister Judith (Morrill) Roberts and a brother Benjamin Morrill as well as his first wife Katherine (Harmon) Morrill.

David is survived by his wife Diane (Holden) Morrill; a daughter Angella (Blanchard) Strong and her husband Hayden of Parsonsfield, sons Paul Sanborn of Waterford, Maine and Chris Sanborn of Harrison, Maine; grandson- Noah Mason and partner Mikayla Magda of Parsonsfield, granddaughter- Hannah Mason of Parsonsfield; brothers- Joseph Morrill of Parsonsfield, Henry Morrill and his wife Julie of Freedom, NH; sister Betsy (Morrill) Dubois and husband Ray of Randolph, NY; and too many loving nieces, nephews, friends and non-blood family to mention.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday December 4th from 2 to 4 pm at Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple Street, Cornish, Maine. A Celebration of Life will follow next Spring.
