Krista Maria Krsulic, 95, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, at Tifton Regional Hospital in Tifton, GA.
Krista was born on August 6, 1930, in Olib, Yugoslavia (now Croatia). She married her beloved husband, John—also from Olib—in 1951. Together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage, raising three children and building a rich life before John’s passing in 2011.
In 1967, Krista and her family immigrated to New York City, where she and John worked tirelessly to build a new life. Becoming U.S. citizens in 1976 was a proud milestone for her; she embraced the American Dream wholeheartedly and carried a deep love for New York throughout her life. In 1997, Krista and John moved to Colorado, where she took great pride in her home in Colorado Springs. Every visitor was treated to a tour, a warm cup of coffee, and a slice of her famous cheesecake—true to her generous spirit.
Krista treasured time with her family and the many friends she made along life’s journey. She was immensely proud of her heritage, her children, and her grandchildren, and she never missed an opportunity to share stories about them with anyone willing to listen.
Krista is survived by her children: Ratka (Joe) Vukosa of Fairview, New Jersey; Boris (Jorgette) Krsulic of Brookfield, Georgia; and Darko (Julie De La Rosa) Krsulic of New York City, New York. She leaves behind four grandchildren—Dennis Vukosa, Michael Vukosa, Joseph Krsulic, and Andrew Krsulic—and five great-grandchildren: Kristy (Ryoja) Krsulic, Cassie Krsulic, Isiah Krsulic, Blake Vukosa, and Brody Vukosa.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews Andy (Jeanne) Matkovich, Lily (Joe) Cascamo, Roy (Jasna) Krsulich, Mary (Greg) Ivanich, Mira (Ante) Dabo, Angela (Zdrako) Lovrovic, Victor (Debbie) Budesa, and Chris (Mary) Budesa; cousins Ivanica Krsulic, Janja (Yure) Deroko, Mario (Florence) Krsulic; and many extended family members.
Krista was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Sime and Anastasia Krsulic-Budesa; her brothers, Kazimir Budesa and Sime Matkovic; and her sister, Maria Matkovic.
Krista will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, and pride in her family and heritage live on in the many lives she touched.
Per her wishes, Krista will be laid to rest beside her husband at Memorial Gardens in Colorado Springs, CO, on Monday, December 1. Please join family and friends for the visitation to celebrate Krista's life on Sunday afternoon, November 30, 2025, at Dove-Witt Funeral Home in Fountain, Colorado.
