Obituary

Arlene Mae (Logan) Tavares, 87, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater, where she resided for the last year, after an eleven-year battle with dementia.
Arlene was born on July 28, 1938, in Quincy, MA, to her predeceased parents, John and Dorothy (Sherman) Logan. She was the sister of Susan Wilson of McCormick, SC, and the late Dorothy Shuman, Margaret Rabon, George Bradford, and Sharon Zabkiewicz.

Arlene was raised and educated in Weymouth before moving to Brockton as a young adult, where she would raise her own family with her late husband, Aguinaldo Tavares, whom she loved dearly.

Arlene was a loving mother who devoted her life to her six children, whom she worked hard to support and ensure they had everything they needed. She will forever be cherished and missed by her children, Michelle Logan of Turner Falls, Tammy Smith and her husband, John, of Ocilla, GA, Aguinaldo Logan and his wife, Cherrie, of Rockland, Dominga Logan of Brockton, Andrew Logan of Brockton, and Bernadette Werra and her husband, Richard, of Brockton. Arlene was the rock and backbone of her family, always supporting and loving.

One of Arlene’s greatest joys in life was being a Nana to eighteen grandchildren: Tania, Tasha, Devin, Jonathan, Nicholas, Stephanie, Cassandra, Ricky, Lexi, John, Janeda, Taylor, Melvin, Jelena, Andrew, Antonio, Adryanna, and Sophia. Her grandchildren brought so much love, light and laughter to her. She is also survived by thirty three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, and nephews.

Throughout her life, Arlene enjoyed playing bingo, watching the Boston Red Sox, listening to music, and dancing. There wasn’t a Saturday she would miss at St. Patrick’s bingo or a Red Sox game she wouldn’t watch.

Arlene had the best smile and a spirit that radiated to those around her. She was known for having a heart of gold and always putting others ahead of herself. She was a friend to all and a mother figure to many.

Arlene’s absence will be deeply felt but her value of love, compassion and kindness will live on through those who loved her.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, November 30, from 3-6 p.m. at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St, Brockton. A funeral service will be held at Conley on Monday, December 1, 2025, at 10 a.m., with burial at Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a story be shared, a song be played, or a dance be had in memory of Arlene.
