Obituary

Valente (Val) Hernandez, 94, of Ventura, California, was lifted into heaven by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2025. Val was born in San Bernadino, California to Magdaleno and Petra Hernandez. Val served in the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of the Korean War. After serving in the Navy, he was a Structural Engineer for 35 years for the Navy as a civilian.
He earned his college degree from Ventura College and attended the University of La Verne under the GI Bill. Val had many hobbies and talents; slow-pitch softball, saltwater fishing, scuba diving, exercising, traveling and was an avid reader. Val enjoyed watching most sports on tv. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and loved going to church at Our Lady of the Assumption and the San Buenaventura Mission.

Val is survived by his daughter Loretta Galaviz, son-in-law Juan of Camarillo. He is survived by his grandchildren: Jordan & Lesly, Dezmond, Alonzo and Seville. Great granddaughters; Catalina and Camila. And many special nephews and nieces.
Val is preceded in death by Carmen Hernandez (wife) of 63 years. Thomas Hernandez (son) and his six siblings, many brothers and sisters-in-law and parents.

Family and friends are invited to a vigil service to be held the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main St., Ventura from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28th and Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church located at 3175 Telegraph Rd., Ventura at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Nov. 29th.
