Obituary

GORHAM- Linda "Toni" Anderson (80), a dedicated resident of Gorham, ME, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine.
Linda was born on May 2, 1945, in Westbrook, Maine, the daughter of the late James and Rachel Duncan. She graduated from high school in 1963. Linda was the beloved wife of Rodney Anderson for 31 years.
A Life of Service and Leadership
Linda was deeply committed to community and veteran service, dedicating decades to her organizations.
• American Legion Auxiliary Unit 197, Westbrook: She joined in 1989, honoring her father, a North African WWII veteran, whom she lost in 1987. Linda served in numerous leadership roles, including Unit 197 President from 1994–1995.
• POW/MIA Vietnam committee.
• Cabane 1003 (The Forty & Eight, or La Société des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux): She joined in 1994 under her husband Rod's military service. Her commitment to this organization was profound, and she held several high-ranking positions, including:
• Cabane 1003 La Femme: Serving as Garde la Port, l’Aumônier, and la Présidente as Grande (President).
• Grande du Maine (State Level): She served as Grande Du Maine (State President) in 2002–2003. She also served as Garde la Port, Sous la Présidente, and Grande Présidente in various capacities.
• Life Member of the VFW 6859 and the Amvets Post 25.

In her personal time, Linda was known for her quick wit, engaging personality, love for reading, and spending quiet time at home with her cherished cat, Abigail.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Rodney Anderson; her daughter, Laura Hadley; son-in-law, Donald Hadley; two grandchildren, Katie and Peter; and two great-grandchildren, Jason and Leah.
She was predeceased by her parents, James and Rachel Duncan, her brother, Donald “Bucky” Duncan and her aunt, June Souza.

Service Information
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor at the American Legion Post 197, 300 Conant St, Westbrook, ME, on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
