
Stewart W. Ellis, 80, of Westport, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long, courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was the husband of Sharon M. (Lennon) Ellis, they shared 57 years of marriage.
Mr. Ellis was born in Laconia, NH, son of the late George and Julia (Johnson) Ellis and had resided in Westport since 1966. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served his country during the Vietnam War and in September of this year, was invited to go on the Military Honors Flight to Washington, D.C. Prior to retirement, he worked as a switchboard operator for the former Montaup Electric and later National Grid. He was a recipient of the Marian Medal and a communicant of St. George Church, Westport where he also served as Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Ellis was past president of St. Vincent de Paul Society. He volunteered at My Brother’s Keeper in Dartmouth delivering furniture, food and Christmas presents to those in need.
Survivors along with his wife include his 2 daughters: Susan Navarro and her significant other Barry Botelho of Westport and Stacy Ellis and her significant other Michael Kimball of Westport; 4 brothers: Robert Ellis and his wife Louise of Sandbornton, NH, George Ellis and his wife Bonnie of Pittsburgh, NH, David Ellis and his wife Mary of Alfred, ME, Clifford Ellis of N. Berwick, ME; a sister: Crista Agriropolis and her husband John of Alton Bay, NH; 3 grandchildren: Dana Farland, Kylie Farland and Owen Navarro; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Ashley Ellis and Charles Ellis.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at St. George Church, Westport at 11:30 A.M.
Visitation will be Wednesday, at the Potter Funeral Home from 9:30-11 A.M. prior to the Mass.
Interment will be private.
