Richard Robert "Bob" Rayno, 89, of Westport, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was two weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He was the husband of Jean (Ste Marie) Rayno. They shared 56 years of marriage.
Mr. Rayno was born in New Bedford, son of the late Willis W. and Margaret (Bowden) Rayno and had resided in Westport since 1969. A graduate of Mass College of Art, he worked for the Westport Community Schools as an art teacher for 35 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a well known scrimshander and even made a piece for a former president. In his younger years he was an avid bowler and even spent a short time touring with a national circuit. He was a devoted New England sports fan and he enjoyed workouts and socializing at General Fitness, collecting records, and searching out yard sales. He especially loved going out to eat, dressed to the nines in his favorite tuxedo t-shirt, with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren, better known as "Boopa". Driving in his convertible with the "top down" was a favorite pastime for his grandchildren and their friends.
Survivors along with his wife include his daughter: Michelle A. Sarkar of Westport; his son: Shawn P. Rayno and his partner Myra Klingler of MI; 4 grandchildren: Allyson (Duarte) Glynn and her husband Dane, Sarah Duarte, Christopher Duarte, Mark Rayno, many nieces, nephews, and wonderful, supportive friends who have been there to provide laughs and donuts.
He was the brother of the late Judy Mosher.
