Obituary

Cathy S. Graveline, 67 of Londonderry, NH, was called to heaven in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 8, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. She left us peacefully and surrounded by her loved ones. Waiting to welcome her with open arms were her parents Lanny & Lora VandeBogart, her parents-in-law Ed & Teresa Graveline, her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and several aunts and other relatives.

Born in Londonderry, NH on March 7, 1958, Cathy was the responsible eldest of three siblings, and numerous cousins. She was a talented artist, piano player and singer, and those interests led her to being part of many drama club productions during her time at Pinkerton High School. Prior to graduating in 1976, Cathy entered and won the Miss Londonderry pageant and was first runner-up for Miss New Hampshire the same year.

As a natural-born caregiver, Cathy knew she wanted to be a nurse from a young age. She used her winnings from the pageants to help pay her tuition to nursing school in Brattleboro, VT, and graduated with her LPN. She spent nearly 20 years working at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. The following 25 years were spent being a Respiratory Therapist, a Nurse Liaison, an educator, working in both skilled nursing and assisted living. Her favorite of all though, was her final job prior to retirement – pediatric home care.

Cathy was everyone’s Nana, everyone’s Auntie, everyone’s bonus Mom – titles that she took very seriously and held very dear. Any way she could be of service, offer encouragement and support, make someone feel just a little more special or better than they were feeling, Cathy would jump at the chance. She was able to touch so many people, just by offering her love. She had unconditional love for those who were not readily offered it elsewhere in their lives. She loved without judgement, or requirement. She seemed to always know when someone needed just a little extra love, and gave it freely and abundantly.

Having recently retired, Cathy found joy in thrifting, crafting and gardening. Her greatest joy in life though, was her family. Whether it was a special homemade birthday dinner, seeing something in a store that she felt like you needed to have, or just making sure everyone in the house had their favorite snacks, she cared for her family in ways that showed great thought and care, even over the little things.

Cathy could regularly be found dancing with the dog in the kitchen, singing at the top of her lungs in the car, or elbow-deep in her most recently thrifted “treasures” - the smallest things brought her the biggest joys.

Blessed with a large and loving family, Cathy is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years, David Graveline and their most goodest boy Griffin, her daughter Amy Gossel (husband Alex Lima) and granddaughter Layla Hirsch, her son Adam Gossel (wife Christina) and grandson Colin, and her daughter Sara Graveline and her fur child Loki. Also, brothers Jeff VandeBogart (wife Dawn), Mark VandeBogart (wife Tammy), nieces Rachel Lavertu (husband Kenny), Ashley Syrett (husband David) and their children, and nephew Kyle VandeBogart (partner Jill Ferris), and numerous aunts, cousins, and friends. Cathy is also survived by her deeply caring and outstanding church family at Londonderry Christian Church, where she was active in the Worship Team for a time, and assisted in the nursery.

Cathy will be deeply missed in a way that words don’t seem to do justice. She was a bright light to all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Following cremation, no services for Cathy will be held at this time. Instead, a celebration of her life will be had in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH directly from their website hhhc.org by clicking the menu drop down in the upper right corner, and choosing “DONATE”
