Tok Sun (Pak) Brown passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 16, 2025, at her home in Franklin, MA.
Tok Sun was born on May 18, 1946, in Seoul, Korea. She grew up in Korea and later met her late husband, Charles Morell Brown, Jr., who was serving in the United States Army. She is survived by her children, Wendy Bertsekas and her husband, Telis, of Lexington, MA, and Sandy Brown and her husband, Jeffrey, of Franklin, MA.
Tok Sun lost her husband, Charles, in May of 2004. She spent the following years helping raise her grandchildren. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Joe, Katelyn, Hannah, and Izzy Brown, and Melina, Alex, and Leo Bertsekas. For over a decade, she could be found in the garden with a baby swaddled on her back in her Korean wrap. She loved her grandchildren and being with them.
Tok Sun came to America in January of 1971 to marry Charles and start their family in Amherst, MA. Tok Sun and Charles had two daughters, Wendy and Sandy Brown. They later moved to Reading, where they lived for 20 years.
Tok Sun was known for her love of gardening and for feeding the entire neighborhood Korean food. Her gardens were a regular stop for the local nursing home. The residents liked walking down to her home and viewing the gardens and koi fishpond.
Tok Sun spent the past six years living at the Forge Hill Memory Care Facility in Franklin, MA. The staff loved having her as a patient, and they took amazing care of her. The staff often remarked how sweet and kind she was to everyone. Tok Sun returned to her home in Franklin for the last few months of her life, surrounded by family, flowers, and lots of dogs.
Relatives and close friends are invited to attend a short service and burial at the Wood End Cemetery, 33 Franklin St., Reading, MA 01867, on Friday, November 28th at 12 p.m. There will be a celebration of her life following the service at her daughter’s home in Lexington. We ask that you wear something with flowers on it in her memory.
