Claudia Coburn Hamer, age 71, of Wellesley and West Dennis, passed away at her home in Wellesley on November 13, 2025. Born on September 22, 1954 in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of Richard P. Coburn Sr. and Arlene C. Coburn, and cherished sister of Richard P. Coburn, Jr., each of whom passed before her.
Claudia grew up in Medford and Woburn. She spent wonderful summers with her extended family on Nantucket, Hampton Beach and the beaches around where her godmother, Aunt Cele, lived in Biddeford ME. She had lifelong and loving relationships with many cousins, including Valerie Hunt and Ellen Argiros. She attended Marycliffe Academy and Woburn High School. She later graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Political Science.
She met the love of her life, Robert Hamer (“Bob”), at a Christmas party at the Parker House in Boston, and they married less than 2 years later. Claudia and Bob raised their 3 sons in Holden and later moved to Wellesley. She was a devoted wife and mother and considered raising her sons to be her life’s greatest joy and accomplishment.
Before starting her family, Claudia worked for Xtra Corp as a contract administrator and thereafter with her father at the Registry of Motor Vehicles. More recently, Claudia assisted as a paralegal for her husband’s law practice.
Claudia loved cheering on the Boston sports teams along with her family. She actively followed news and current events, and she was passionate about researching her genealogy. She loved living in Wellesley, particularly hosting friends for the Boston Marathon. She shared a special bond with Christine Galica, who was her best friend.
