Obituary

Ricky Michael Saunders, 40, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12th at UMass Memorial Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.
Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Scotty Nora (Fay) Saunders, and their three children—Chance, Charleigh, and Axel—as well as their fourth child soon to be born. He is also survived by many friends whom he considered his extended family. He was predeceased by his mother, Deborah A. Saunders.
Ricky lived by a belief that defined who he was: blood doesn’t make you family—love, trust, and friendship does. His circle was built on loyalty, not lineage. Fiercely devoted, endlessly generous, and deeply protective of those he loved, Ricky was the kind of person who would show up for you at any hour, without hesitation. Whether you knew him for five minutes or five years, Ricky gave you the same unwavering support. He never forgot those who stood by him, and he made sure they always felt valued. Behind his sharp wit and quick comebacks was a man of rare gratitude—a man who would send a quiet “I appreciate you” or “I love you” simply because he meant it. Ricky collected friendships the way others collect memories, giving purpose and strength to the people around him. He wanted everyone to thrive, to win, and he made sure no one was left behind.
Ricky enjoyed an occasional card game, traveling, and his involvement with the Big Brother Program. He was also known as one of the hardest workers anyone could meet. But above all else, Scotty, Chance, Charleigh, and Axel were his greatest joy, the reason he pushed through his demanding work schedule with determination and pride.
A graduate of Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, Ricky went on to attend The Peterson School of Electronics. He became a successful business owner, entrepreneur, and electrician, and was the co-founder of Caliber Electric and Lighting Company. Countless friends have also built their careers and found their footing because Ricky taught and believed in them. In keeping with Ricky’s loving and generous spirit, he chose to be an organ donor, giving the gift of life so that others may live.
