Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Liz was the cherished daughter of Agnes and George Charney. She grew up in Bridgeport and graduated from Harding High School, where she met her future husband, Herbert Wilson. She attended the University of Bridgeport and earned a degree in dental hygiene in 1952. From 1952 to 1958, Liz worked as a dental hygienist in the Bridgeport Public Schools.
Liz married Herbert Wilson in 1956, and together they built a life first in West Peabody, MA, and later in Andover, MA.
