James J. Morris
Retired Tewksbury Fire Chief

James J. Morris, age 97, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family at his bedside on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Constance R. (Nolan) Morris, to whom he was married for 73 years.

Jim was born in Lowell, MA on June 28, 1928, the son of the late Leo Morris and the late Louise Helen (Duffy) Morris.

He attended Tewksbury schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1949.

In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean War era until being honorably discharged from active duty in 1952.

Jim retired as Fire Chief in 1988, after working for 38 years for the Tewksbury Fire Department. He loved being a firefighter and devoted himself to protecting the town he loved.

In addition to his wife, family members include his four children, Deborah J. Goodwin, of Merrimack, NH, James W. Morris, of Dunstable, Constance R. Morris, of Tewksbury, and the late Frederick R. Morris. He has eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren: Jim was the brother of Louise E. Donovan, of Methuen and the late Joan Bradanick, Robert Morris, Leo Morris and Virginia Demers. He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, followed by his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Services will conclude with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
