Salvatore J. Grasso, 92, of Derry, NH died Friday, September 1, 2006 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Mr. Grasso was born in Lawrence, MA on May 17, 1914, a son of the late Luigi and Florence (Giovanni) Grasso. He has been a resident of Derry for the past 50 years, previously living in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Mr. Grasso was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Army in North Africa, and was a Bronze Star recipient. He enjoyed gardening and cooking, for which he was known as a “great chef.”
Mr. Grasso is survived by his two sons: James and Robert Grasso, both of Derry; his daughter, Gloria Guay of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Jeannette (Levesque) Grasso in 1996.
Calling hours were on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 from 4-8 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service was held in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 6th at 10 AM. Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry, NH.
