Obituary

NASHUA, NH – Michael F. Butler, 82, died Monday, November 10, 2025 with family at his side after a period of declining health.

He leaves his wife of 11 years, Joanne M. (Volonino) Delpapa-Butler; 2 daughters, Holly A. Zagwyn of Winchendon, MA, and Jina Thomas of Townsend, MA; 2 sons, Jon A. Butler and his wife Lisa of Nashua, and Joseph Delpapa, Jr. and his significant other Kristen Austin of Brookline; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Zagwyn and Sheila Zagwyn, both of Winchendon, Jacob Zagwyn and his significant other Bryanna Hache of Ashburnham, MA, Domenic Delpapa of Lyndeborough, Nicholas Delpapa of Brookline, and Britany Thomas of Townsend, MA; and a large extended family of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Mary Ann (Ryan) Butler in 2008, by his brothers Neil Butler and James Brian Butler, and by his sister Melora Dauksz. He also leaves his beloved chihuahua grand dogs Roxy and Cookie.

He was born on October 17, 1943 in Webster, MA and raised in Oxford, MA a son of Edward Butler, Sr. and Helen (Daley) Butler and graduated from Oxford High School in 1961. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Franklin Pierce College.

He served honorably in the United States Navy during the 1960’s.

Mr. Butler worked as a project manager at Stratus Computer in Maynard, MA before he retired. After, he prepared taxes for H & R. Block and also drove school buses for the Hollis-Brookline School System for several years.

He played Santa Claus in homes and businesses for over 30 years.

Mr. Butler enjoyed playing cards and traveling on cruise ships and to Las Vegas. His favorite activity was spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 19, in the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, MA. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace, with military honors provided by the Webster-Dudley Veterans Council. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 AM in the funeral home on Wednesday, prior to the service.
