Gladys I. Garrett, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday, September 1, 2006, at the residence of her son-in-law.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, September 4, 2006 at Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. J.W. Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Garrett was born October 20, 1926, in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late Charlie and Lovie Bell Elliott. She was a homemaker and a member of Englewood Baptist Church. She had lived in the community since 1982 coming from Deland, Florida. While living in Deland, she worked for The Violet Place and J. Bryon’s Department Store.
She is survived by her granddaughter: Gina Y. Thompson; her grandson: Jamie Young; a son-in-law: J.W. Young; one great-grandson: Garrett Burch; and one great-granddaughter: Deanna Thompson, all of Fitzgerald; as well as three sisters: Josie Odom of Decatur, Lillian Gaines of Fitzgerald, and Mildred Trier of Parma Heights, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband: L.C. Garrett; a daughter: Diane Young, and two sisters.
