Edward J. “Ed” Robbins, 88, affectionately known as “Red” to close friends and family, passed away on Tuesday, November 11th, at Sawtelle Hospice House of Reading. Raised and educated in Somerville, he was the son of the late Edward Muse and Frances Kelly. Ed proudly served in the US Marine Corps, and was later employed by Tufts University. He enjoyed building and riding motorcycles, as well as racing stock cars. Ed has lived in Medford since 1969.
Ed was the beloved husband of Gladys (Switzer) Robbins, and the devoted father of Nancy Pinto, and Edward Robbins and his wife Leanne. He was the loving grandfather of Michael Robbins, Jason Pinto, Jessica Baudoin, and the late Robert Pinto. Ed was the great grandfather of Stella and Sophie Baudoin, and was predeceased by a late brother and sister.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, November 17th, from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will take place privately at MA National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
