
Bernadette Theresa Zyglewicz, 73, former longtime resident of South Boston, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 9th, 2025, following a lengthy battle with Multiple Myeloma Cancer.
Bernadette was born in South Boston, MA on May 23, 1952. She attended Boston Public Schools, graduating from South Boston High School in 1971, as well as several business classes thereafter. Bernadette was employed for the entirety of her adult life, over 40 years, at the MA State Auditor's Office in Boston, before retiring in 2016.
Bernadette grew up and lived in South Boston for many years before taking residence in Quincy, where she stayed until her health declined. Then, she moved into Bayberry Assisted Living in Tewksbury. She eventually moved in with loving family in Lowell for hospice.
Bernadette was a proud Polish-American who lived a quiet life as a lifelong communicant of the Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Parish in South Boston. She previously lectored and was still an active member of their Rosary Society.
Bernadette traveled a little, with her most notable trips being to Poland to visit family and to Rome to tour the Vatican. She greatly valued spending time with her family. She also enjoyed going to the theater with her good friend Joyce, as well as walking the local beaches, and watching our New England sports teams.
Bernadette was the devoted daughter of the late Kazimierz and Monika (Skrzypecka) Zyglewicz. She is survived by her beloved sister Irene Acquaviva and her husband David Hartford, her loving nephews Anthony Acquaviva, Joseph Acquaviva and his wife Nemisha, David Acquaviva and his longtime girlfriend Deanna Rossi, and niece Christina Marquez along with her sons Luis and Cristopher, as well as numerous cousins and friends.
The wake will be held at Casper's Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St., Boston, MA 02127 on Monday, November 17th from 6pm-8pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 18th at Our Lady of Czestochowa Catholic Parish, 655 Dorchester Ave., Boston, MA 02127 at 11am, followed by burial at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA.
