NEW HAMPTON ---- Denise Marie Plante-Renaud, 71, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Dartmouth Medical Center, in Lebanon, NH, with her husband by her side, after living a life of love, kindness, creativity and courage.
Denise was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, the first of seven children to Ralph Gilbert Chartier and Joan Louise (Ryan) Chartier. She had a remarkable memory for family history, a love of family and artistic talents that she used prolifically to bless people.
Denise was predeceased by her parents and leaves behind a loving family, her husband of 30 years, Guy Renaud; daughter, Vanessa Plante; stepchildren Jason Renaud and Moriah Renaud; 10 grandchildren, 6 siblings: Michele Dillon, Cheryl Chartier, Matthew Chartier, Mark Chartier, Michael Chartier, and David Chartier; and many nieces, nephews, dear friends and students whose lives she touched.
Denise’s love for children and desire to give back led to 12 years of foster care of 5 children.
Denise taught for 25 years in the Newfound School District, K-5 Art, in 4 schools. Her artistic spirit touched everyone around her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her teaching colleagues and students, whom she helped to find the artist within. Denise turned her passion into her ever-evolving creative process at Artistic Roots in Plymouth, NH. She used a kaleidoscope of colors and textures to transform repurposed furniture into spectacular works of art. Her magical ability transformed everyday experiences into extraordinary expressions in photography; stunning oil and watercolor paintings; and unique furniture. Denise taught us to see the world through an artist’s eye, to find beauty in imperfections, and to use our talents to bring more light into the world.
Denise’s impact on the lives of those who knew her and whose lives were touched by her is immeasurable. Though Denise may no longer be with us, her spirit lives on in her loved ones and the countless lives she touched. We will forever cherish the memory of Denise and her remarkable and significant journey through life.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring.
