
Rita Anne Corbett 84 of Sandwich, MA passed away on Sunday November 9, 2025.
Rita was born to James and Nellie O'Donnell on June 8, 1941 in Boston, MA. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, twin, and aunt to many, many nieces and nephews.
Rita grew up in Boston where she met and married her loving husband, James Corbett. Rita and Jim settled in West Roxbury, Ma and raised their six children. When their children were grown, Rita and Jim moved to Popponesett Beach in Mashpee, MA where they owned a summer home but eventually settled in Sandwich, MA.
Rita was married to Jim for 61 years before his death in September 2023. Rita's love for Jim was so strong that “Death left a heartache no one could heal”
Rita is survived by her six children. Thomas Corbett and wife Lisa of Mansfield, James Corbett Jr of Wareham, Lisa Fernandes and her husband Kevin of Mashpee, Laura Gerrity-Cratty and her husband Paul of Sandwich, Linda Curtin and her husband Michael of East Sandwich, and Lesley Short and her husband Greg of Marshfield. She is also survived by her 16 loving grandchildren Krista, Katie, and James Corbett, Peter and Brittany Hadayia, Casey and Erin Corbett, Keith, Andrew, Kevin, and Victoria Gerrity, Stephanie and Michael Curtin, and Samantha, Brenna and Brian Short. And several great-grandchildren.
Rita is also survived by her sisters Phyllis Spezzano of Whitinsville MA and her twin Patricia Graham and her husband Al of West Roxbury, and predeceased by two sisters and two brother Marie Johnson, James O’Donnell, Anna Freni, and Richard O’Donnell.
Rita loved reading, crafts, lunch and Keno with family or friends, sewing, but most enjoyed the countless family vacations including several cruises, trips to Bermuda, Walt Disney, Hawaii, North Carolina in large rental homes with her kids and grandchildren because “All the best adventures are the ones where we’re all crammed together making lasting memories”
Visiting and Services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road East Sandwich. Visiting from 10 am-11am with mass at 11 am. Lunch and a celebration of Rita’s Life following services will be announced after the mass. Burial will follow at a later date.
