ALEXANDRIA----Sandra Jean Hutchins, 72, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in Dorchester, NH, surrounded by family that she so devoted her life to. She was one of four daughters of Robert and Bernice (Blake) Akerman, of Alexandria, NH.
Sandra attended local schools and graduated from Bristol High School in 1971. She attended NHCTC for a food service manager degree. She worked for several businesses over the years including IPC, Webster Valve, Marcam, Indian Head Resort, and Marie’s Daycare.
She was an active member of the Alexandria United Methodist Church, where she served on many ministries over the years. As a member of the Pasquaney Garden Club, Sandra maintained the gardens surrounding the Welcome to Bristol signs. She often spent time doing vegetable gardening with her grandchildren, making meals and volunteering at The Bridge House.
She is survived by her children: Brian Shinn, of Alexandria, NH, Lisa (Clifton) Bill, of Dorchester, NH, Heather (Keith) Rand, of Vershire, VT; grandchildren Craig, Cassandra, Alex, Andrea, Brady, Blake, Tyler and Emma; one great grandchild; and sisters Lucy Johnson and Martha (Donald) Flanders. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Douglas Hutchins and sister Brenda Sousa.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Alexandria United Methodist Church.
