Obituary

Bridget (Moran) Powers October 25, 1933 – November 8, 2025

On November 8, 2025 Bridget (Moran) Powers, 92, of Sandwich, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering dedication to her family.

Born in Baralty, County Mayo, Ireland, Bridget came to America in 1951 at the age of 18. She was a brilliant woman with a compassionate heart and enduring character. She moved through life with fearlessness and courage.

In America, Bridget found not only opportunity but also love. She married her devoted husband, Wally, and shared over 50 years of marriage. The couple raised their four children in West Roxbury before retiring to Cape Cod. They began the journey on family vacations in Truro in early years and then retired to Eastham at the Leprechaun Motor Court where they created so many years of happy memories with friends and family before their last stop for over 30 years in Sandwich. The ocean always reminding her of dear old Émerald Isle.

Bridget was proud of her Irish heritage but equally proud to be an American citizen—a distinction she wore literally, proudly displaying her American flag pin on her lapel. She dedicated many years to caring for others as a home health aide in the Boston area and gave generously of her time volunteering at the Salvation Army. Her faith and her family were the cornerstones of her life.

Thirty-five years after leaving Ireland after the death of her mother, Bridget returned to her homeland to spend a precious final week with her sister, Theresa, before her death—a testament to the deep bonds of family that defined her life. The return left so many fond memories of her heritage and the beauty of Ireland.

Bridget is survived by her four loving children: Stephen and his wife Sheryl of Walpole; Regina of Santa Barbara, California; John and his wife Lisa of St. Mary's, Georgia; and Pamela and her husband Brian Hoey of Dedham. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren: Richard, Christopher, Shane, Dillon, Ashley, and Bailey. And her beautiful great, great grandchildren Shannon and Ben. She is also survived by her dear sister Margaret Miller of Naples, Florida, and two brothers, Anthony of Oxford, England, and Patrick of Dublin, Ireland.

She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Wally; her brother Martin; and her sisters, Theresa and Sister Mary Alphonsus.

Bridget's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and faith. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and the countless lives she touched with her kindness and care.

The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful staff at the German Centre in West Roxbury for the care they gave their mother in her final days. Instead of flowers if donations could be sent to the Salvation Army 7 Baxter Street Quincy, MA. 02169

Services will be held on Wednesday November 12, 2025 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road East Sandwich, Ma from 10 am- 11 am visiting and 11 am mass. Followed by joining her husband in St Peter’s Cemetery in Sandwich.
