Lillian Kawa, 97 of Exeter, NH passed away Friday November 7, 2025 at the All American Assisting Living in Londonderry, NH. Lillian was born on January 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Athina (Nason) Joseph. She grew up in South Boston and spent most of her life in Winchester, MA where she raised her two children along with her beloved husband, Ed. Lillian worked at the Winchester Town Hall as an assistant treasurer and collector proudly for many years.
She never missed any of Dana or Nancy's games and was an incredibly dedicated mother. When her grandchildren were born, they lit up her life. She greatly enjoyed any social situations and any opportunity to meet someone new. She was such a kindhearted woman and people gravitated towards her warmth. She was also a woman of strong faith. She was Mom and Grandma to everyone and was loved deeply by all who knew her.
She is survived by one daughter; Nancy Tortorello and her husband Bill of Sandown, one son; Dana Kawa and his wife Trish of Jefferson, NH, six grandchildren; Jesse, John, Nick, Alison, Cori and Stephanie, five great-grandchildren; Emerson, Andy, Kayleigh, Mabel June, and Madelyn. She is predeceased by her husband, Edward Kawa in 2002, and by her sisters, Alice Adams and Stella Joseph.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 12th from 2 - 4pm in Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A funeral service will follow at 4:00pm in the funeral home.
