
WATERBORO- George C. Fowler, age 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 7th. 2025
George was born in Newport, N.H., on October 17, 1945, the son of the late George E. and Catherine (Smiar) Fowler. He served in the U.S. Army in Landstuhl, Germany at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center as a preventive medical specialist. While in Germany, he also completed coursework toward his college education. After returning home, he continued his studies at Central Connecticut State University and later earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Connecticut.
In 1965, before leaving for Germany, he married his beloved wife, Sharyn Cornut. They spent a long honeymoon traveling throughout Europe and went on to share 60 years of marriage.
George was preceded in death by his brother Dennis, granddaughter Ashley Megan Batt, and son-in-law David Batt. George was the loving father of Julie Batt and Christopher Fowler (Amanda). A devoted grandfather to Devon, Avery, and Spencer Fowler, as well as Ethan, Brandon, and Garrett Batt. He was the brother of Bradley Fowler (Kathi).
George was employed by American Appraisal Associates for 28 years, working primarily in mergers and acquisitions. After retiring, he remained active by teaching as a professor at York Community College in Maine, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and decades of business experience.
George dedicated more than 30 years as a volunteer EMT in Connecticut and New Jersey and also served as an EMT during the 9/11 response. He was a member of the National Association of Accountants and served as president of its Hartford, Connecticut chapter. While living in Maine, he served as a board member of the Lake Arrowhead Community for 18 years and as its treasurer for 15 years. He will be forever loved and remembered by his family and all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring in Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in George’s memory.
