Marlene M. (Moniz) Samson, 71, of Westport, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Irene (Pontes) Moniz.
Ms. Samson was born in Fall River and had resided in Westport for most of her life. She had worked for the Town of Westport for over 40 years receiving an honorable citation from the MA House of Representatives for her service. She also served as Town Clerk for 27 years until retirement. In 2018, she was honored with the Portuguese Heritage Award at the MA State House. She enjoyed baking and trips to Foxwoods. She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. She was a member of Westport Fair, Inc. and P.A.C.L., Westport. Her greatest joy was cooking for family gatherings and get togethers.
Survivors include her 2 sons: Paul D. Samson and his fiancée Jennifer L. Kirby of Westport and Kenneth J. Samson and his wife Kimberly of Westport; her brother: Michael D. Moniz of Marshall, TX; her sister: Elaine M. Potter of Tiverton; 3 grandchildren: Dylan, Julia and Savannah; 3 great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Joseph S. Moniz, Jr.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Tuesday from 4-7 P.M.
Interment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
