Ying Tom, 104 years old, of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 8, 1921, in Battambang, Cambodia, where she grew up and worked as a landowner and farmer. In the early 1980s, Ying came to the United States to begin a new chapter of life with her family.
Ying was devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to sew, was always active and exercising, and enjoyed watching travel shows that reminded her of the beauty of the world. She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved grand-puppies, Baby, Boba, Lily, and Pepper. Her humor and contagious smile brought light and joy into every room she was in.
She is survived by her children, Chhath Tom of Cambodia, Chhout Tom of Lowell, and Chhiv Chan of Manchester; and her son-in-laws, Saodarin Ros and Chanvanna Khem. She also leaves many cherished grandchildren both in Cambodia and the United States, including Owen Yean, Chhoeurth Yean, Im Tom, Mao Tom, Kimberly Yean, Kimselena Yean, Chanserey Khem, Chanrathana Khem, Chanvirak Khem, Chansophea Khem, Kimsang Tom, Kimsue Tom, Kimle Rowe, Steven Ros, Devin Ros, and Ariadne Rowe.
Her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Arianna, Daniel, Anthony, Lucas, Alexander, Doris, Natalia, Aaron, Ryan, Wanda, Alex, Caillou, Meimei, James, and Lokai, will remember her love and warmth always.
Ying was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Seang Tom, who passed away in September 4th 2015, and by all of her siblings.
Family and friends are welcome to attend her funeral services beginning on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 2pm at Trairatanaram Temple, 21 Quigley Avenue, North Chelmsford, MA 01863.
On Saturday, November 15, 2025, her funeral procession will depart the temple at 8 a.m. and continue to Merrimack Cremation Service, 10 Henry Clary Drive, Merrimack, New Hampshire.
