
Claudia Ann Handy, age 77 of Ventura, California, passed away at home on Friday, 10/31/2025, after a long illness. Claudia was born in Michigan to Robert and Christine Cross, and moved with her family to Camarillo when she was 17. She finished high school at Camarillo High and then went on to attend Ventura College to become a registered nurse. After further eduction through Stanford University and UC Davis, Claudia became a Family Nurse Practitioner. She had a passion for medicine, and was well liked by those she served. She had a lifelong passion for horses, having ridden as a young girl. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, camping with her family, and the company of many close friends. Her daughter Amy and her family brought joy and happiness to her life, and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Claudia is survived by her husband of almost 48 years Carl Handy of Ventura, daughter Amy McAlpine, Son-in-law David McAlpine, and her grandchildren Ethan and Luke McAlpine. Her sister, Patricia Lamberson of Ventura, and brother Thomas Cross from Loveland, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Christine Cross of Ventura, and brother Robert of Sacramento. As a Christian, her faith in Christ is her assurance of eternal life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Livingston Memorial in Ventura. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Livingston Memorial Hospice Care for the kind and unwavering care she received over the past year.
