Obituary

Charles I. “Butch” Gaskin, Sr., 77, of Ferncrest Boulevard, North Providence, died Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Maria R. (Sassone) Gaskin. They were married for 39 years before her death in 2012.

Born in Providence, he was the oldest of twelve children born to Charles E. and Dorothy C. (Youde) Gaskin. He lived in North Providence since 1973. He worked as a Quality Control Inspector for Davol before retiring.

Butch is survived by two sons: Charles Gaskin, Jr. with whom he lived, and Jonathan Gaskin of North Providence, his grandson, Thomas Gaskin and Thomas’ siblings: Kalie and Jakob, his brothers and sisters: Ronald Gaskin and his wife, Helene, Donald Gaskin, Patricia Gaskin, Holly Moniz, Dorothy Melo, Richard Gaskin, Heidi Cole and her husband, Joseph, Susan Caldarone and her husband, Gregory, and Jeffrey Gaskin, 13 nieces and nephews and 12 great nieces and nephews and his sisters in law; Cathy and Dawne Gaskin. He was the brother of the late Stephen Gaskin and Timothy Gaskin and brother-in-law of the late Joe Moniz.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 10am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville.
