Obituary

Susan Stoltenberg Moore, beloved mother, grandmother, nurse and friend, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025 in Pittsfield MA where she resided for the last 5 years. She was 82 years old.

Born on March 15, 1943 in Hartford CT to Louis and Doris Stoltenberg, Susan spent most of her life in Manchester CT, but spent her happiest childhood days during the summers in Maine, where she developed a lifelong love for the coast and a simple life. She graduated from Manchester High school and began her lifelong journey of caring for others. With a deep sense of compassion and unwavering dedication, she pursued a career in nursing, ultimately finding her true calling in obstetrics and gynecology. As a nurse, Susan brought comfort and care to countless women and families, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Susan was the kind of person who made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. Her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and boundless empathy touched the lives of many. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church in Manchester and proudly served with the 8th District Auxiliary. She gave selflessly and loved unconditionally, embodying the heart of service in every role she took on.

A breast cancer survivor herself, Susan chose to continue helping others even after her passing as an organ donor. It was deeply fitting that her gift will aid breast cancer patients—a final act of kindness from a woman who always gave so freely of herself.

The greatest joys of her life were her sons, Peter (Robin) and Jeremy (Katie), and she cherished every moment with her grandchildren—Charlotte, Abby, Megan, Ian, and Katelyn (Ryan)—and great-grandchildren, Brody, Avery, and Maverick. Susan shared a special bond with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Spencer and Cherie and their children Kaelyn and Leo. All who brought her endless joy and laughter. Her legacy lives on in their hearts, and in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Susan will be remembered for her warmth, humor, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her life was a true testament to caring, service, and strength of spirit.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15th, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Second Congregational Church, 385 North Main St, Manchester, Connecticut. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and share memories of a truly remarkable woman.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MACC Community Emergency Food Pantry.
