
BUXTON - Carl “Chip” Cox, Age 67, passed away unexpectedly on October 31st, 2025, after a sudden heart attack.
Chip was born in Portland Maine August 8th, 1958, to Mary-Joe and Robert Cox JR. Chip attended Bonny Eagle High School where he met the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Cox (Tapley) and in 1978 they were married. Chip started his long-time career working Gorham Sheet Metal and eventually ended up at New England Tech Air where he stayed until retirement.
Chip loved the outdoors and was always happiest, he was in the woods or on the water, especially with his two sons Joshua & Andrew. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and being around a fire with family and friends. He was a fan of old western movies and after retirement he would often be found sitting in his recliner watching repeat westerns. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and pulling his grandchildren around with his lawnmower.
Chip is predeceased by both of his parents Robert and Mary-Joe Cox, brother Jerry Cox, son Joshua Cox and granddaughter KeArnna Cox. Chip is survived by his loving wife Betty Cox, sons Andrew Cox and his partner Samantha “Sammy” Strout, Scott Landry, his baby sister Robin Prescott and her husband Jim, and brother Buddy Cox and his wife Deb, Daughter in-law Kathryne “Katie” Kennedy, along with his grandchildren Devin, Isaiah, Destyni, Robert, Aliya, Jayden, Nathaniel, Lorcan, Austin, Makenzie & Maeve, and great grandson Kolton and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday Nov. 8th from 12 noon - 2 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. A graveside service will then immediately follow at Dow's Corner Cemetery, Cape Road, Standish.
