LACONIA --- Robert “Bob” Douglas Tetreault passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2025, after a long, challenging illness.
He was born on September 22, 1956, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Dorothy Ann Rainier (Tetreault) and Robert Louis Tetreault.
Bob’s friends and relatives say, “He was thoughtful, compassionate, smart, and had a heart of gold. He also had an infectious laugh and great sense of humor.” Until his massive heart attack and subsequent disability, Robert worked for decades in physically demanding jobs, sometimes two jobs at once. He was the kind of person who didn’t ask for help, but often helped others. He had a traumatic childhood, but with great effort, succeeded in developing a life that was productive and filled with love.
Bob prayed that his children would one day understand why, in his twenties, he made some difficult choices that he hoped would improve their lives. Robert was a man of strong faith. One of his favorite quotes was: “Death is but a gateway with a door that leads to a new life.”
He was an avid reader who enjoyed modern and classical literature, along with books about philosophy and spirituality. Bob’s sister, Pat, says, “As an undergraduate, I majored in English, but over his lifetime, my brother read far more than I did. I will miss his talent for recommending new books that stir the soul.”
Bob loved the outdoors -- fishing, camping, and gardening. He also enjoyed painting and carving wooden walking sticks. He was an excellent cook, known for his famous baked beans and zucchini bread. Bob’s sisters will miss the chocolate peanut butter cake he made on their birthdays.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Tetreault; son Gillon; daughter Shannon; stepdaughter Anne; siblings Kathy, Pat, Dianne, Beth and Laurie; nephews and nieces, who adored their uncle who taught them how to fish; and his beloved dog, Gizmo Adams, who will miss his best friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
