Obituary

Daniel Wesley Montgomery
September 30 1969 - October 30, 2025

Daniel W. Montgomery passed away at L&M Hospital after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.

Dan was the youngest of 6 siblings born into a Naval family. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Naval Officer in the Submarine Force.

He graduated from Tufts University in 1991 and then entered the Navy. He met his wife Pam in 1990 and they were married on September 2, 1995. Dan and Pam moved to several duty stations in the United States, made many great friends along the way and had 2 amazing children to complete the family. The Montgomery clan finally found their forever home and settled in Mystic in 2008.

Dan retired from the Navy in 2013 at the rank of Commander and joined the team at Sonalysts Inc. where he worked up until the time of his illness. Sonalysts throws quite a gala each year which we always looked forward to attending.

He is survived by his wife Pamela (Sealy) Montgomery , daughter Ashley (Montgomery) Porter and her husband Jack Porter, and son Grant Montgomery. He’s also survived by 3 siblings, Stephen, Margaret and Melanie and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents David & Susan Montgomery, his brother Jonathon and sister Marietta.

Dan’s naval career sometimes necessitated long periods of separation from his family. So when he retired, Dan truly enjoyed just spending time with Pam and the simple things in life…going out to eat, going to the movies, or just watching the Simpsons. Dan also really loved sailing. Dan and Pam’s friend has a boat (also known as the best kind of boat) and spent many happy days sailing the waters off the Connecticut coast. Many great memories were made there…fair winds and following seas.

A funeral service is being held on Saturday, November 8, at 10:00am at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 15 Pearl Street Mystic with full military honors. A private burial for the family will be held at St. Mark’s Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Submarine Force Library and Museum or Veteran Affairs
