Obituary

LIMINGTON- Marlene Derau, 79, of Limington, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at the Barron Center in Portland, surrounded by love.

Marlene was born on May 30, 1946, at Sanford Hospital and grew up in Parsonsfield, where she attended Parsonsfield Elementary and Porter High School. From a young age, she was known for her kind heart, hardworking nature, and quiet strength — qualities that she carried throughout her life.

Over the years, Marlene worked at Limerick Shoe and Sebago Shoe until their closing, and later at The Enterprise Restaurant and Stoneridge Restaurant, where her warmth and laughter left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike. She also ran her own lunch wagon in Limington for several years, where she shared good food, friendly conversation, and a welcoming smile with everyone who stopped by.

Marlene will be remembered for her generosity, gentle humor, and the love she gave so freely to family and friends. Her home was always open, her coffee pot always on, and her heart always kind.
Marlene is survived by her husband, Richard, and her children, Terry (daughter) and Tim (son), grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday Nov. 6th from 10 AM – 11 AM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A graveside service will then follow at Riverside Cemetery in Cornish. Online condolence messages can be submitted at www.mainefuneral.com
