
Mansfield, Bruce Alexander age 93 of Wellesley, died peacefully in the care and comfort of Lafayette Nursing Home in Marblehead on Friday, October 24, 2025 due to declining health. He was born in Wellesley on April 17, 1932 the son of the late Bertram Alexander Mansfield and Prudence Landers. Bruce is survived by his loving children, Linda M. Carroll of Marblehead and Robert A. Mansfield and his wife Dana of Ashland. Grandfather of Kristen Foster and her husband Jeff of Austin, TX, Colin Mansfield and his wife Cassie of Norwell, Scott Carroll and his wife Lindsay of Falls Church, VA and Jennifer Carne and her husband Jason of Sterling, VA. Brother of Bruce Starkey, David Landers and his wife Laurel and Richard Landers of Wellesley. Great-grandfather of Piper and Finley Foster and Charlee Jane Carroll. Also survived by three nieces.
Bruce was a graduate of Wellesley High School and attended Brown University. He excelled as a quarterback and third baseman. He served at Westover Air Force Base in 1951 and signed with the Milwaukee Braves in 1954.
Bruce and his ex-wife, Jane Mansfield raised their family together in Wayland for twenty five years. After years in sales Bruce was a teaching tennis professional. He enjoyed coaching Pop Warner Football and Little League Baseball. He was an avid sports fan, loved to travel and Camp Taconnet on Belgrade Lake, ME was his favorite place to vacation as a child and adult with his family.
Bruce will be fondly remembered by all whose paths he crossed or taught tennis to in his 93 years.
Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery will be private.
