Obituary

AUBURN_ Sophie M. (Sosnowski) Stodolski, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Jewish Health Care Center with her family by her side. Her husband of 35 years, Stanley A. Stodolski, died in 1991. She is survived by her children, Diane M. Richards and her husband Wayne of Murrells Inlet, SC, Robert M. Stodolski and his wife Sheila of Auburn and Mark D. Stodolski of Sterling; grandchildren, Douglas Stodolski, Adam Richards and his wife Jillian, Ryan Richards and his wife Molly; great grandchildren, James, Luke, Sadie and Camille Richards; nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Zenon Sosnowski, Genevieve Milewski, Stasia Tozeski and Theresa Dowd. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Anthony and Victoria (Pysk) Sosnowski.

Sophie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Worcester. She worked with her husband and son for forty-five years operating Romark Machine Handle Company, founded by her husband. She was a longtime member of the Polish American Veterans Auxiliary of Webster-Dudley, serving as an officer, as well as participating in the annual pierogi productions. A longtime Auburn resident, she served as a poll assistant with Town elections for many years. Sophie was a local and family historian and journalist, keeping everyone informed of birthdays, anniversaries and other important dates. She enjoyed traveling over the years with her family and especially spending time at her vacation home in the Berkshires.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the care providers of Jewish Healthcare and JHC Hospice for their kindness, compassion and care provided to Sophie and the family during her stay with them.

The funeral will be held on Thursday October 30, 2025 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St., Worcester, MA. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday October 29, 2025 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM.
