SPRINGVALE- Ruth Maxine Hunter, beloved mother, grandmother, and devoted wife, went to be with her Lord, on October 23, 2025. She passed away in Maine, where she resided with her son Ehren and his family.
Maxine was born in Newcastle, Wyoming on January 28, 1936 to Nellie Ann Griffin and Neil Otis Boyd. She graduated from Newcastle High School and then attended the University of Wyoming, where she met and later married her husband of 56 years, Edward Hunter. Edward proceeded her in death in 2012. Ed was an educator and administrator for several Wyoming school districts, while Maxine was a dedicated mother and homemaker.
Wheatland, Wyoming was the Hunters’ longest place of residence, where all four children graduated high school. During their time in Wheatland, Ed and Maxine were long time members of Wheatland Bible Church.
Maxine found joy in leading women’s Bible studies in her home. She was loved by many there and made some lifelong friends. After retirement, Ed and Maxine moved to Cody, Wyoming, Ed’s hometown.
Maxine continued in her service to the Lord by leading women through Bible Study Fellowship. She also continued to nurture her flowerbed, and she and Ed enjoyed volunteering at the Buffalo Bill Dam Visitor’s Center. Maxine’s greatest joy could be found in spending time with family.
Maxine is survived by her four children; Julianne Wilson, Jody Lynn, Kathy Smith (Kurt), and Ehren Hunter (Erin). She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jadanne Rose, Matthew, Kooper, Kenidee Ruth, Riley, Emily and Damon. Along with her great grandchildren; Nevaeh, Jacob, Sterling, and Colt.
A small Memorial Service was held in Wheatland November 7, 2025 with family and friends.
