Obituary

John Ivan Rhone was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and remained
a lifelong resident of the city he loved deeply and steadfastly
refused to leave. He was the second son of John D. Rhone and
Mae D. Rhone, both of whom preceded him in death. His
cherished mother Mae D. Rhone passed away in March 2025, a
loss he felt deeply with love honor and reverence.
John Ivan (Jonivory) was deeply rooted in his community,
baptized at the Church of the Good Shepherd in December 1962.
He was especially known through his involvement with the North
End Community Center, where he built lasting relationships and
contributed meaningfully to the neighborhood.
John Ivan (Jonivory) was the beloved father of three children:
Raina DiFilippo, Nasha C. Rhone, and Ivan G. Rhone. He was a
devoted g grandfather to four g grandchildren: Danisha Craig, Ivan
Rhone Jr., Lynae Lewis, and Par is Davis-Rhone.
He is survived by his siblings: Caroline Rhone, Sandra Rhone,
Sheila Rhone-Bonner, Wayne Rhone, and Timothy and Pamela
Rhone. He was preceded in death by his siblings Thomas (Tommy)
Rhone and Patricia (Patsy) Rhone.
John took great joy in attending family milestones and never
missed an opportunity to gather with his loved ones. His family
meant the world to him, and he cherished the time spent together.
John Ivan (Jonivory) will be remembered for his witty humor, his
unwavering love for his family, and his deep pr ide in his Black
heritage. He was a man of strength, spirit, and unshakable
identity, a legacy that will live on in all who knew and loved him.
He was truly loved and will be forever missed.
