
Robert E. O’Malley (Bobby), of Framingham and Mission Hill, passed away suddenly on October 15, 2025.
Bobby’s career as a Surgical Technologist spanned 48 years. He recently retired from Boston IVF in Waltham, where he worked for 25 years. His expertise was appreciated throughout Greater Boston, including at New England Surgicare, New England Baptist Hospital (with Dr. Hunt), Waltham Hospital, Brookline Hospital, Kaiser, and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Bobby is survived by his mother, Kay (Antonuccio) O’Malley, and was predeceased by his father, Robert ‘Jobby’ O’Malley, and his sister Susan Lawless (Chris). He leaves behind his siblings: Cathy, Michael (Maria), Bea Foley and her late husband Dan, John (Edna), and Stephen (Tricia). He was a beloved uncle to Christopher, Catherine, Ian, Caroline, Genevieve, Jillian, Johnny, Hannah and Nicholas. Blessed with a great nephew and niece William and Violet.
An outdoor enthusiast, Bobby loved riding his Harley, curling, orienteering, and diving. He enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Patriots, golf, and cricket. Recently enjoyed the local senior centers playing billiards and bocce, and was active with the Holliston and Southborough Rod Clubs.
He leaves behind his Aunt Angie, many cousins, friends, neighbors, and colleagues from Mission Hill, Framingham, and his many social circles.
The family extends special thanks to the Norwood First Responders and the Norwood Senior Center.
Visiting Hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St. West Roxbury on Sunday, October 26th, from 12-3pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, October 27th at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington St. West Roxbury at 10am. Interment Mt. Benedict Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
