In Loving Memory of Lucy Murrieta Yanez
February 25, 1935 – September 30, 2025
On September 30, 2025, our beloved mother and grandmother, Lucy Murrieta Yanez, 90, was called home to be with the Lord. She lived a life rooted in faith and devotion to Christ, full of grace and love. She shared her faith through kindness, compassion and an unyielding trust in Gods plan.
Lucy was born in Santa Paula, California to Modesto and Julia Murrieta on February 25, 1935. She graduated from Santa Paula High School in 1953. She met the love of her life, Isidro (Chico) Yanez, in 1951. They were married on April 27, 1957, and were married for almost 65 years, until the Lord called Chico home in 2022. Their union was a beautiful testament to Gods design for marriage, marked by love, perseverance and faith. They raised their three children and built a life in Santa Paula. In addition to being a dedicated loving mother and wife, she worked as an Aide for Santa Paula School District and worked several years in customer service at a local pharmacy, roles in which she touched countless lives with her kindness, patience, gentle spirit and generous heart. She loved her family with her whole heart. Spending time with her family and grandchildren were the times she cherished the most. She loved cooking for her family and made the best tacos, chicken soup and her legendary potato salad was always requested for every family get -together. She found peace in prayer and joy in music, often listening to her favorites, Kenny G and Kenny Rogers. She loved to dance and enjoyed watching her son play the saxophone at many music events. She was the most devoted and loving grandma who always made time for her grands. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart, and they were her greatest joy.
Lucy is joyfully reunited in Heaven with her husband, Chico Yanez, and her dear son Isidro (Rosie) Yanez, who proceeded her in death. She also is reunited with her parents, brothers and sister.
Lucy is survived by her beloved children, Randy Yanez (Maria, Sara), Denise Velez (Ivan); cherished grandchildren Joshua Yanez (Natalie), Dustin Yanez (Cristal), Shane Velez (Leanne) and Kiani Velez; and seven precious great grandchildren: Matthew, Austin, Micco, Charlotte, Aiyana, Anevay and Brody who will carry on her legacy of faith and love. She is also survived by her brother, Carlos Murrieta, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Though we grieve her passing, she is now at peace in the arms of our Savior. She will be deeply missed, always remembered and forever in our hearts.
