Robert F. McCaffrey of Groveland, formerly of Reading passed away on August 29, 2006 at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill. He was 76 years old.
Born in Revere, Robert was a resident of Reading for over 35 years. He proudly served our Country in Air Force during the Korean War. He was the director of Elementary Education in Stoneham and Reading and was the Principal in North Reading. He also taught in Revere, Long Beach California and Brentwood New York.
Robert was a member of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. for 40 years and also a member of AFTRA/SAG. He was an accomplished artist and well known in the Reading Area.
Robert was the beloved husband of Judith (Rafter) McCaffrey. He was devoted father of Robert B. McCaffrey and his wife Carolin of Littleton, Susan McCaffrey Schmitt and her husband Michael of Maryland and Dianne McCaffrey Lynch and her husband Edward of N. Andover. He was the loving grandfather of Kira S. McCaffrey, Megan R. Schmitt, Jack E. and Aidan R. Lynch. Dear brother of Col. William J. McCaffrey, Donald McCaffrey, Annette Dahlberg, Audrey Devlin, Loraine Pedulla, Loretta Andreottola, and the late Paul McCaffrey, Howard McCaffrey, and Eleanor Havel.
A Funeral Service celebrating Robert’s life will be held in the Chapel of the Doherty Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING on Friday at 9am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours on Thursday from 4-8pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located behind Atlantic Supermarket located on Haven St. Internment Charles Lawn Cemetery, Reading.
