Sharon M. (Keane) Major, 75 of Westport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family .She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Stephen Major.
Born in Fall River, Sharon was the daughter of the late Thomas and Rita (Smith) Keane. She was a graduate of Durfee High School and Diman School of Nursing. As a caregiver, Sharon enjoyed nursing and worked as a licensed practical nurse at Truesdale Hospital for several years. Sharon later moved on from nursing, working for Verizon in directory assistance, retiring after 30+ years.
As well as her husband, Sharon is survived by her two children; Jennifer Major of Westport and Edward Major and his partner, Stephanie Davignon, also of Westport and one grandson Zachary Major of Tiverton. She is predeceased by her brother, Thomas Keane, Jr. and her sister Barbara M. (Keane) McCormack.
Sharon was a Communicant of St George Church. She loved spending quality time with family and friends. She enjoyed taking rides and fishing with her husband. Some of her favorite pastimes were painting ceramics, playing cards and watching old movies. Sharon was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching baseball, football, tennis and especially F1 racing and women’s soccer with her daughter. She loved playing and snuggling with her grand-dog, Stella Rose.
Memorial Service to which family and friends are invited will be Thursday, October 23, 2025 at the Potter Funeral Home at 7:00 P.M.
Memorial Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 7 P.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be private.
Flowers are acceptable, or memorial donations may be made to any local animal shelter of your choice.
