Obituary

Roland Ramponi of Bedford, New Hampshire passed away on October 11, 2025 at the age of 83. He was born in Virginia, Minnesota to Leo and Ann (Meglen) Ramponi on April 9, 1942. Roland grew up in Mt. Iron, Minnesota. Graduating from Mt. Iron High School in 1960. After high school he joined the Navy (submarine branch) and in seven and a half years of service earned the rank of First Class Petty Officer. Upon entering civilian life he returned to Minnesota, relocating in the Apple Valley area and went to work in the high-tech industry as an engineer in Minneapolis. In1978 his next move was to Groton, Massachusetts to join Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, Massachusetts which later became Hewlett Packard. After twenty-six years, he retired in 2004 from Hewlett Packard.

Roland & Melodee (Bastianelli) were married in January 1963 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Eveleth, Minnesota. They built a good life together for almost 63 years.

Roland was a jack-of-all trades, he could fix anything!!! He also enjoyed building, plumbing, wiring and was an amazing gardener who created a remarkable Japanese garden in the back yard, including a pond, bridge, gate and landscape plants, and the rest of the yard also had his attention. He was full of trivia—no matter what you asked him he had the answer-- he knew everything!!! We all enjoyed our time with him and loved him so much. He will be missed by all of us.

Survivors include his wife, Melodee; son, Steven (Lydia) Ramponi; grandson, Aidan O’Donohue; granddaughter, Katrina (Jason) Dube; three great-grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony and Abigail Dube. Roland has two brothers, Richard Ramponi, and Roger (Melody) Ramponi; and sister Rochelle (Robert) Engman; as well as many nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Oklahoma, Ohio and California. Roland is predeceased by his sister, Rosalyn Scherer, her son Scott and husband Jerry. Also his sister-in-law, Margie, late-wife of Richard Ramponi and his brother-in-law Ron Bastianelli.

A private family memorial will be held in November. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry and Londonderry are assisting the family with arrangements.
