CHICOPEE – Richard H. “Rick” Descoteaux, 73, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 19, 2025. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on September 22, 1952, a beloved son of the late Hervey L. Descoteaux who was Called Home on September 2, 1992 and Claire Y. (Dupont) Descoteaux who was Called Home on September 25, 2018. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School, Class of 1971, and was a lifelong resident of the city. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Seaman Apprentice. He was a longtime custodian for the Chicopee School Department and retired several years ago. Richard was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church and a member of the Moose Family Center, both in Chicopee. He leaves his two loving and devoted sisters, Jean C. Micheli and her husband, Dennis, and Nancy L. Beaulieu and her husband, Dennis, all of Chicopee; his two cherished nephews, Michael Micheli and his wife, Julie, and Eric Beaulieu and his wife, Rachel; his two cherished nieces, Tara Gilpatrick and Sara Batchelor and her husband, Jeff; his ten cherished grandnephews and grandnieces, Austin Micheli, Lily Micheli, Julia Micheli, Tyler Gilpatrick, Kyle Gilpatrick, Selena Gilpatrick, Wylan Beaulieu, Corey Beaulieu, Peyton Batchelor, and Cameron Batchelor; and his many dear cousins, extended family members and friends. His burial will be private at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
