Lucille T. (Morin) Surprenant, 97, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of the late Dennis Raymond Surprenant, who passed away in 1969 after seventeen years of marriage.
She was born in Lowell on July 27, 1928 and was the youngest of seven children of the late John and Delia (Larmand) Morin. She was raised in Lowell, attending St. Jeanne D’Arc Grammar School before graduating from Lowell High School. She pursued her education at St. Joseph Nursing School, becoming a Registered Nurse. She began her career as a delivery nurse at St. Joseph Hospital before moving on to work in the mental health field for many years, retiring from Danvers State Hospital in 1992.
When her children were young, Lucille loved sewing, knitting and crocheting, making many gifts for her family over the years. She also loved crossword puzzles, reading, and music. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a great deal of wisdom. Above all else, Lucille cherished spending time with her family and making lasting memories.
After her husbands passing, she proudly raised all of her children on her own. She is survived by her children, Dennis Surprenant and his wife, Debra of Templeton, MA, Joseph Surprenant and his wife, Monica of Pebble Beach, CA, Michele Hoey and her husband, Robert of Lowell, Jeffrey Surprenant of Lowell, Janet Surprenant of Moultonborough, NH; Mémère to her twelve beloved grandchildren; and Mémère Lu to her fourteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, the late Henry Victor Morin, Anita L. Malo McCaffrey, Robert E. Morin, Joseph Maurice P. Morin, Irene F. Morin, and Doris S. Oullette.
