Charles M. Ross, age 88, of Mapleville, Rhode Island, formerly of Mansfield, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Ann M. (Racine) Ross, with whom he spent thirty-seven years together and married on September 21, 1991.
Born in Attleboro, MA on March 11, 1937, he was a loving son of the late C. Martin and Lois (Chapman) Ross.
Charlie grew up in Mansfield and was a graduate of Mansfield High School. Following graduation, he honorably served as a member of the United States Coast Guard.
Prior to retiring, Mr. Ross was employed for nine years at the for Fort Incorporated in East Providence. He was very proud of his former occupations as a computer technician at Burroughs Corporation and demonstrating his talents as a remodeling contractor.
A resident of Mapleville for the past seventeen years, Charlie had formerly resided in Mansfield and was happiest when spending time with his adoring family. He had a lifelong love for music and would oftenly recall songs which were appropriate for the conversation at hand.
Charlie had a special love for his dogs, enjoyed gardening, a passion for bluefish fishing, was a diehard Boston Bruins fan and will always be happily remembered for his ability to be ingenious, inventive, fix just about anything and his dry sense of humor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Donna J. O’Brien of Wells, Maine, David A. Ross and his wife Beth of Haymarket, Virginia, Gary A. Ross of Grand Ledge, Michigan and Christopher A. Morin of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was the dear brother of the late Priscilla Grantham and is also survived by his cherished nine grandchildren, as well as six great grandchildren.
A private graveside funeral service will take place at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at a later date and place to be announced.
