Obituary

Gerard J. Fleming, age 81, of West Roxbury, MA, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025.

Born on August 2, 1944, in Boston, MA Gerard was a proud American who dedicated his life to service — first to his country, then to his community, and always to his family.

A United States Marine Corps veteran, Gerard served with honor and distinction, embodying the core values of honor, courage, and commitment. Following his military service, he continued his life of dedication as a police officer, first with the Boston and Maine Railroad and then with the MBTA Police Department, where he served for over 22 years. Known for his integrity, strength, and compassion for others, Gerard was a respected member of the force and a mentor to many.

Gerard was a devoted father and beloved grandfather. His greatest pride came from his family. He is survived by his 3 children: Siobhan and spouse Patrick Keeney, Eric Fleming and Keith and spouse Angela Fleming. His cherished grandchildren include Nola, Jacob, Brenna and Sophia. He was their protector, teacher, and biggest supporter — always ready with a story, a lesson, encouragement and a laugh. He is also survived by former spouse Emma Fleming, his sister Frances Doherty, niece Laura and spouse Joseph Lee, as well as many cousins.

Gerard was a man with a booming personality, deep faith, and unwavering loyalty. He was truly a jack of all trades- a man who could fix, build or figure out just about anything. His helping hands were rarely still, and his mind was always working. He was an aquarium hobbyist, and an avid reader who loved cards, westerns and soul music. He was a dedicated member of the Boston Lodge of Elks, and his legacy is one of service, sacrifice, and steadfast love.
