Judith E. "Judy" Gendreau, 84, of Derry, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 13, 1941, in North Adams, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Doris (Poirier) Perras. Judy called Derry home for 49 years, having previously resided in Dracut, Massachusetts.
Throughout her life, Judy embodied the essence of family and joy. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she wove a tapestry of love, laughter, and togetherness that touched everyone around her. Her days were filled with simple pleasures: relaxing at her beloved lake house, where generations gathered to create lasting memories on the water, sharing meals, and celebrating life's milestones. She found serenity in the call of loons drifting across the lake and delighted in hosting holidays, her open heart and generous spirit drawing people near with effortless warmth and kindness. Judy’s life was a testament to living fully, prioritizing connection, and creating a legacy of cherished moments.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward Gendreau, her daughter, Debra Bouthiette (husband Rick); her sons, Edward Gendreau and Mark Gendreau (wife Julia); eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Marlene Dowrey and Linda Lanoue (husband Ed), Joan Perras (sister-in-law) and a host of adored nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter Donna Gendreau, son Gregg Gendreau, grandson Edward Gendreau, daughter-in-law Lynn Gendreau, brother Norman Perras, and sister Norma Quinn.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 9 - 10:30am in the Peabody Funeral Home and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11am at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, 26 Crystal Avenue, Derry. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery on East Derry Road in Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gate of Heaven Parish Catholic Women’s Group in Lancaster, New Hampshire.
Judy's spirit will live on in the stories shared by the water's edge and the laughter echoing through family gatherings. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love, reminding all of us to embrace life's joys and hold our loved ones close.
